Wilbur J. Pittenger, 93
East Liverpool – Wilbur J. Pittenger, 93, formerly of Blackmore Street, died at 11:45 p.m. Monday, March 8,1993, at the Nentwick Convalescent Center, where he had lived since 1991. He was born in East Liverpool Aug. 13, 1899, a son of the late William S. and Jennie Moore Pittenger. Mr. Pittenger had been employed more than 50 years with the Cooper Insurance Co. before retiring. He spent many winter months in Ft. Myers, Fla. He graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1917. A member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church since 1912, he was a former trustee and Sunday school treasurer. A 61 – year member of Riddle Masonic Lodge 315, he also was a member of Chapter 100, Royal Arch Masons; Council 95, Royal and Select Masons; a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Ft. Myers; the East Liverpool Association of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons; the East Liverpool Historical Society; and the Leadership Gift Society of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association. His first wife, Lois R. Allison Pittenger, whom he married June 18, 1924, died Dec. 11, 1967. His second wife, Eleanor Wilson Pittenger, whom he married Jan. 15, 1977, died Aug. 3, 1987. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John B. (Marian) Hales of East Liverpool; a son, Atty. James E. Pittenger of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The Rev. Dr. H. Gene Toot of the church is to conduct services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial is to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Masonic services are to be held at 7.
