James Plankington, Butcher, Dies At 83

James Guyton Plankington, one of the oldest East Liverpool butchers, died today at 5:35 a.m. at his home, 1052 St. Clair ave., following a two – month illness. He was 83. He was born in Pittsburgh, son of the late William B. and Mary Guyton Plankington. He resided in East Liverpool for 77 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian church. Mr. Plankington was a proprietor of a butcher shop for 40 years before he retired in 1920. He was an apprentice butcher of J. T. Smith before he operated his own shop first on East Sixth st. and later on Dresden ave. His wife died 14 years ago. His daughter, Mrs. John Paul, and granddaughter, both at home survive. Rites will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Martin funeral home by Rev. Arthur E. French Jr., acting pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and night at the funeral home.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Martin funeral home for James Guyton Plankinton, who died Friday at his home, 1052 St. Clair ave. Rev. Arthur E. French Jr., acting pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery. Friends will be received today and Sunday afternoon and night at the funeral home. He leaves his daughter, Mrs. John Paul, and a granddaughter, Ruth Esther Paul, at home.
