Beaver, Pa. – Novell L. Pugh, 78, of Canal Street, died Tuesday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She was born Feb. 13, 1921 in Chester, WV., the daughter of Early and Icy Streets Smoot.
She attended Hancock County Schools, for which she later worked and eventually retired from as a custodian. She had previously worked at numerous area potteries.
She was a member of the New Brighton Church of the Nazarene, where she was a Sunday School teacher and on the board of directors. She was formerly a member of the Chester Church of the Nazarene.
She was preceded in death in 1992 by her husband, Charles Pugh.
She is survived by four sons, Frank of East Liverpool, Alvin of Chester, Charles Jr. of Murpheysboro, Tn., and Wayne of Lewisville, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Joyce) Baker of Newell, WV; Mrs. William (Carol) Wakefield of East Liverpool and Mrs. Gary (Linda) Dawson of Wellsville; two brothers, Lawrence and Verl, both of Chester, two sisters, Mrs. William (Maxine) Strum and Eldora Mosser, both of Chester, 17 grandchildren; 33 great grand children; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Orple Wigal; and a brother, Walter Smoot.
Services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday at the Chester Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Tim Haynes of the church and the Rev. Philip Bowles, former pastor of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. Saturday [should be Friday] at the Arner Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the church.
