Robert H. Rich, 81, of Freedom, went home to be with his Lord and his beloved wife of 48 years, Kathryn, on Monday, December 21, 1998.
Born February 25, 1917 in New Waterford, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry S. and Inez B. Kerr Rich. He was a retired engineer with Conrail, Conway; a member of the New Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Economy; the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers; the 40 and 8 Club; the Freedom American Legion; the Freedom Fraternal Order of Eagles, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn P. Koehler Rich, in 1987.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A. and Jo Rich, Beaver and Michael E. and Kathleen Rich, Beaver Falls; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and John Banyas and Joan F. and Dave Row all of Freedom and Diana K. and John Tatsch, Flatwoods, KY; 15 grandchildren: 13 great grandchildren; four sisters and one brother in law, Laura Phillips,, Alice and Ear Stear and Mildred R. Lang, all of Beaver Falls and Martha Wright of California, and two brothers, Allen Rich, Industry and Walter Rich, New Sewickley Township.
He was also preceded in death by a sister Kathryn Dever and a brother Jack Rich.
Friends will be received today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 349 Adams Street, Rochester. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the New Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Larry Mort, officiating and the Rev. Judith Boal, assisting.
Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made, if desired to the New Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 Second Avenue, Econoy.
Full military honors will be conducted by the Beaver County Special Unit.
