George R. Richards, 78, of Putnam St., East Liverpool, died at 5:25 p.m. Sunday at the Butler (Pa.) Veterans Hospital, where he had been a patient five years.
He was born in East Liverpool Jan. 9, 1907, a son of the late George Daniel Richards and Alice Petticord Richards.
Mr. Richards was retired after 23 years employment as a machinist with the former Crucible Steel Co. He served with the U. S. Army artillery during World War II in the European Theater with action in Africa and Italy. He was a member of Boyce United Methodist Church, its Home Builders Class, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Butler.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia Jacobs Richards, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Thelda) Davis of East Liverpool and Mrs. Steven (Coraleen) Ackerson of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sons, George D. (Juddy) Richards of East Liverpool, Gilbert Thomas Richards of Newport News, Va., and Franklin Robert (Bobby) Richards of Detona, Fla.; a brother, Roy Richards of East Liverpool ; and 10 grandchildren.
