George Sfakis, 63, Retired Steelworker

Services are planned Tuesday for George S. Sfakis, 63, of Ninth Avenue, LaCroft, who did at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 1989, at the West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh where he had undergone open heart surgery eight days earlier. He was born in East Liverpool April 25, 1925, a son of the late Steve G. Sfakis and Anna Palko Sfakis. Mr. Sfakis was a retired employee of the former Crucible Steel Co., and had operated the Video Room in East Palestine in recent years. He had served with the U. S. Army Air Corps, and was a member of the St. Aloysius Community Parish. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Allison Sfakis, at home; four sons, George “Butch” Sfakis of Frederickstown, Terry M. Sfakis and Blaine J. Sfakis, serving with the U. S. Air Force at Caribou, Maine; a sister, Mary Ann Sepos of Cuyahoga Falls, and 10 grandchildren. The Rev. Ray Thomas of the church is to conduct the graveside services at 11 a.m. at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Dawson Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight.
