Mabel V. Smith, 79

Lisbon – Mabel V. Smith, 79, of state Route 45 died at 5:16 p.m. Monday, March 9, 1998, at the Salem Community Hospital after taking ill suddenly. She was born in Chester Dec. 1, 1918, a daughter of the late Ennis B. and Annie V. Lyons Allison. She was employed many years as a pottery worker in the Chester area, and worked 17 years as an Avon representative in the Lisbon and Wellsville areas before retiring in 1994. Her husband, Kenneth I. Smith, whom she married Jan. 19, 1946, died Oct. 26, 1977. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood and Cecil Allison. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Evelyn) Lancy of Dale, Texas; a son, Lester Strum of Lisbon; three sisters, Ella Raffa of Wellsville, Grace Campbell of Hookstown and Mrs. Robert (Ann) Hagar of Livonia, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and 13 great – grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool. Burial is to be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
