William J. Smith, 21, of 718 St. Clair avenue, died last night in the City hospital, after a long illness.

Mr. Smith was last employed by the Smith and Phillips Music company. He was a member of the Methodist Protestant church.

He leaves his widow and one son, William; his mother, Mrs. Maude Winters; a sister, Mrs. Caroline Aeschbacher, East Liverpool; four half-brothers, Kenneth Winters, New Castle, Pa.; Clyde Winters, Baltimore, Md., and Harold and Raymond Winters, East Liverpool, and a half-sister, Fay Richards, New Castle.

Funeral services will be held in the home at 3:30 Saturday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. J. F. Dimit. Burial will be in Clarkson cemetery.

NOTE: William’s wife is not buried with him. She later remarried and is buried with her second husband under the name Vera Hendricks. Also, his tombstone has the wrong birth year engraved on it. It reads 1908 – 1929. He was born in 1907.
