Muriel S. (Smith) Taylor, 89, of Elyria, passed away of natural causes at Wesleyan Village on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012.She was born Feb. 13, 1923, in Westbury, N.Y. Muriel was Valedictorian at Westbury High School and attended business school. She was primarily a homemaker and after her children were grown she was employed as an accounting clerk at Sears Department Store.

She was a member of Eastern Star, enjoyed music, taught piano, and was a church organist.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her children, Walter E. Taylor III, of Norfolk, Va., Nancy T. (Thomas) Spencer, of Avon Lake, Ohio, Lynne (Lawrence) Chrapliwy, of Port Washington, N.Y., and Robert D. Taylor of Columbus; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Jan) Smith, of Prescott, Ariz.; and sister Doris (Victor) Sestokas, of Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Walter E. Taylor Jr. and parents, Harold B. and Elsie (Stevenson) Smith.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second St., Elyria. A memorial service will be in the Wesleyan Village Cascade Room, 807 West Ave., Elyria, at a time to be announced. The Rev. Beth McKee will officiate. Inurnment will be at Meadow Green Cemetery, Huron.
