James M. Vietmeier Jr., 49

WEST POINT, Ohio – James M. Vietmeier Jr. 49, of West Point, died at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown on Friday, April 17, 2015.

Born on Nov. 4, 1965, he was the son of the late James Michael and Wilma Vietmeier Sr. and had lived most of his life here in this area. He was a graduate of David Anderson High School and furthered his education at Kent State and Penn State Universities becoming an Asbestos Removal Specialist and a level three Asphalt Technician, working at several local companies.

Left behind to cherish his memory are: his daughter: Jasmine Vietmeier, of Salineville; his son, Josh Vietmeier of Columbus; his sisters, Jamie Carmen of Vermont and Sandy (Smith) Stokes of Columbiana; his husband of 24 years, Jason Grindle, of West Point and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces will also miss their loving uncle.

Jim loved spending time in his garage surrounded by and playing with his three boxer puppies, Diablo, Ruth Alice, and Chuck.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie (Smith) McGrath.

Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 6 p.m. Friends may call at the Calcutta Funeral Home on Thursday two hours prior to the service from 4-6 p.m.
