Harvey Werkheiser

Services are planned Tuesday for Harvey Werkheiser, 68, of Chester who died at 11 p.m. Saturday at the East Liverpool Extended Care Center following a long illness. He was born Aug. 29, 1915, in Chester, a son of Fred E. and Marie E. Speer Werkheiser. He formerly worked at Werkheiser Grocery Store in Chester, Temple Ford in Chester and later Mackall Motors in East Liverpool in 1980. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He attended Bethany College and was a lifelong member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Mr. Werkheiser served in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Society and past president of the Chester Kiwanis Club. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gladys Allison Werkheiser, of the home; a son, Larry H. Werkheiser of Lawrence, Kan.; two daughters, Mrs. (Edith) Myett of Holy Hill, Fla., and Mrs. Tim ( Beatrice) Allison of Chester; a brother, Bill Werkheiser of Chester, and five grandchildren. Calling hours will be this afternoon and evening at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel with the Rev. Dr. Robert O. Brown officiating. Burial will be at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
