Former Rail Worker Dies
Edward Wirks’ Rites Will Be At Palestine
East Palestine, Dec 27 (Special) – Edward Wirks, 79, retired employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad Co, died Tuesday at 4 pm at teh home of a daughter, Mrs. Mary Bennett, of Roger’s Heights, after a two-day illness of a heart condition.
A son of Edward and Harriett Lewis Wirks, he was born in Tryonville, Pa, June 20, 1871. He was married 55 years ago to Mary Jane Garner, who died 17 months ago.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and resided in East Palestine since 1914.
He is survived by another daughter Mrs. Raymond Hayes of Portsmouth, Va and six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 pm from the Oliver Funeral Home by Rev Carl Duwe. Burial will be in Glenview Cemetery.
